A full English or Continental breakfast is offered daily for our guests. You are welcome to order what you wish - breakfasts tend to be bountiful and totally filling! With prior notice, you may also order a traditional Sri Lankan ‘Hopper’ breakfast or Coconut Pancakes.
We feature quick snacks such as pastas, sandwiches, toasties and salads that we aim to prepare and serve to your table within 20 minutes. Ideal for a speedy lunch in the middle of a busy day’s sightseeing in the Eastern Hill Country.
We can prepare with a selection of scones, cakes and local pastries along with a large cup of freshly brewed Ceylon tea in a decorative tea-set. Alternatively, you can head to the nearby colonial era Bandarawela Hotel for afternoon tea on the lawn.
The kitchen team is delighted to offer a choice of two set menus on a daily basis. The 3 course menu each evening always includes a Sri Lankan Rice And Curry option. Another set menu offers an optional traditional English dining selection.
You can sample the famous Ceylon Tea Bungalows Rice And Curry, supervised by Master Chef Indika from The Elephant Stables at Kandy. Our Rice And Curry is famous throughout the island as one of the tastiest that is on offer at any hotel in Sri Lanka!
The British planters usually consumed wholesome colonial style meals prepared by their Appu’s that were called ‘courses’ (meat + vegetables). At Ceylon Tea Bungalows, this tradition is lovingly continued with delicious soups as starters, main dishes such as roast beef and lamb with a selection of fresh vegetables sourced from a nearby farm.
Kids’ meals are specially prepared, especially where spices and chilies need to be moderated. Our A La Carte Menu includes a variety of ‘chips with everything’ dishes including burgers, fries, sausages, baked beans and some very healthy salads too!
With some advance notice, we will be pleased to offer specially tailored meals including vegetarian meal options, Halal food and gluten-free meals. Guests are welcome to discuss menus and meal preferences with our Chef at any time.
